1040 U.S. Tax Season Calendar ¨C 2014

January
January 1
- New Year¡¯s Day public holiday.
January 15
- 4th quarter payment is due if you are paying 2013 estimated income tax quarterly.
January 12-18
- 2014 tax season starts. Initial email asking for your authorization for 2013 tax return preparation.
January 31
- W-2 forms and other compensation statement are due from employers. Forms 1099 are due from payers of interest, dividends and other specified types of income.
- Chinese New Year public holiday.

February
February 1-6
- Chinese New Year public holidays.
February 15
- Form 1099-B is due from brokers reporting stock transactions.
February 16-21
- Email asking for 2013 tax information required.

March
March 9-14
- Reminder on 2013 tax return preparation.
March 25
- Tax information is due for clients making extension payment or filing 2013 tax return by April 15.

April
April 1-4
- Qing Ming public holidays.
April 5-7
- Reminder on filing of 2013 tax return or filing extension with payment by April 15.
April 15
- Original due date to file 2013 income tax return. (Automatic extensions applied and see next).
- 2-month automatic extension is granted to taxpayers living outside of the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Different rules for state extensions, please check with your state or contact us if you need to file a state tax return or state extension by April 15.

Filing Form 4868 and make payment by April 15 to minimize interest and penalties or if you do not qualify for a 2-month automatic extension.
- 1st quarter payment is due if you will pay 2014 estimated income tax quarterly.
- Contribution to an IRA (Individual Retirement Account) is due. Maximum contribution is $5,500 ($6,500 if you are age 50 and over). Maximum contribution and deductible contribution may be reduced for taxpayers with different income.

- International Labor Day public holidays.
May 12-16
- Reminder on 2013 tax return preparation.
- Reminder on filing FBAR (Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts).
May 25
- Tax information is due for clients making 2013 extension payment or filing 2013 tax return by June 16th.

June
June 1-2

- Dragon Boat Festival public holidays.
June 3-7
- Reminder on filing timely or asking authorization to file extension form 4868 by June 16.
- Reminder on filing FBAR (Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts).
June 16
- Tax return is due for US taxpayers living and working outside the US and Puerto Rico.
- Filing extension Form 4868 to extend the filing due date until Oct 15th if additional time is required. 1040 office will file the extension by June 10th on your behalf if you have authorized us to do so.
- 2nd quarter payment is due if you will pay 2014 estimated income tax quarterly.

July
July 14-18
- Following up on 2013 tax return preparation.

August
August 12-16
- Following up on 2013 tax return preparation.

September
September 1-5
- Following up on 2013 US income tax return preparation.
September 15
- 3rd quarter payment is due if you will pay 2014 estimated income tax quarterly.
September 6-8
- The Moon Festival public holidays.
September 20
- Tax information is due for clients who need to file 2013 tax return by October 15th.

October
October 1-7
- National Day public holidays.
October 15
- Tax return is due if extension form 4868 has been filed.
- Applying for additional time to file tax return until Dec 15th by writing a letter to the IRS if you have any special reasons for filing late.

November-December
- Back filing of delinquent tax returns and tax consulting.
